New Pornographers Live

I think I'll use this as a thread to add some of these new songs being performed. I can't wait to see this song live. I like the "trying to fail" at the end of here. Just a cool, epic New P's song. It belongs in a trilogy with These Are The Fables and Go Places, if you wheel.

I want some pro shot HD quality videos. Come on, it's 2010! We need to start getting this market covered because there's nothing better to experience in the new world of home theaters and HD and 7.1 sound blah blah blah. Live performances. Until then, we have adventurous appreciators of art out there bringing us youtube videos.

I'm so bored.

I don't really know what I'm even doing on this blog, right now. There's really just nothing happening. Friday, 7pm in a moderate sized city. You'd think I would be a little more creative than this. But then again, that's Pittsburgh for ya. I'm half tempted to get to Q'doba and try to score a free burrito, because I'm so hungry.

I would be able to just make the food right here in my own home, but MUTT has been fucking around cleaning the kitchen for what seems like at least 4 hours. I have not had anything to eat today. When I told him I was about to make something he said "Not for another half hour". That was probably an hour ago. Maybe he'll let me make cereal.

Once I get this food, I think my mind will start working again. Right now I just can't focus or figure anything out. Plus, Mutt just keeps talking about Jason's yeast infection. And then I lose my appetite and do not get the nourishment my mind and body needs.

Sometimes I wish I had the patience to be a great drawer. I think that's really all I'm missing. Patience. Shhhh ahhhh

Hmmmmm.... Stream of consciousness. Overrated, as I'm proving. The mindless dribble of a poor soul stuck in this yinzer abyss.

I recently posted on facebook that I had a secret hate list. It's sort of true, even though it's not completely secret. You'll always get a response posting something like that, because everyone is excited to find out that other people hate people. They pray that maybe there's a mutual hatee. Sometimes those people don't even know they themselves are actually on that list. In some cases. Do you follow my logic?

I had a strange night of sleeping. I turned on the tv to fall back asleep at one point and the last thing I remember hearing was that Lawrence Taylor raped a 17 year old chick and paid her 300 bucks. I wish I had left the tv off.

There's nothing left. I'm done for now. I guess I'm going to meditate and figure out what to do with the rest of the night. I have some editing to do, if I ever get to make this damn food. Maybe I should go do something that's worth writing about. I don't think bubble spinner is in that category so I'll avoid it. The game really is overrated and I'm actually done playing it forever. Starting right now.

The New P's hit Jimmy Fallon

Wow, those New Pornographers with Neko decided to show up on Jimmy Fallon and rock the shit out of the song "Crash Years". It's a Neko song which is always great to hear.

So if anyone out there is trying to check out this track and then ultimately decide you need to go seem them live this summer, which you should, then here you go. Just remember Pitchfork gave this album a 7.3, so you are allowed to admit in public you like it if you're an indie hipster asshole. Never forget to mention that it isn't as good as Twin Cinema despite what you actually think or feel, otherwise you might look like a poser.

Ninja Pornographers, Mommays and Daddays!

Hooray, the New Pornographers' Together is officially out. They'll be on Jimmy Fallon tomorrow night and I'll probably be plastering that video here soon after. I also can't wait to see what Pitchfork has to say with their erudite perspectives on everything. That's when the fun will start.

Yours Hands (Together) has a new music video, with ninjas and choreography. Not quite professional wrestling, though. Check it out you silver bullets:

Elliott Smith Unreleased Songs

Elliott Smith is the best. I think we can agree to that. I guess it's subjective, but I know quite a few people who would agree. I am thankful the dude was so prolific. He left us with plenty of great albums. Then we got a couple posthumous ones, arguably the best stuff.

And of course there's a plethora of bootlegs, live recordings, b-sides and unreleased songs all over the place even now on the internet. Some of these unreleased songs, I just can't understand why they weren't released. Dancing on the Highway, Stickman, See You in Heaven- all some of his best work in my opinion. And those quickies like Let's Turn the Record Over and The Enemy is You. Great shit.

Mr. Goodmorning.

Here's another live video I don't think I've ever seen. And I haven't heard much of this song. I think it was called Confusion before, though. Apparently some Mutt out there decided to change the name to "Living in a Cage".

Cheers, dogs.

New New P's!

Ah man, the New Pornographers are coming out with a new album and I couldn't be more ecstatic. I'm a big lover of music. What this band does with layers, melodies, variations and strange, vague lyrics is my cup of tea. They create feelings and emotions, leaving it up to the listener to fill in the blanks, to attach meaning to those feelings. And that's music, right? So yes, May will be a great month. This will be an appropriate way to kick it off.

For now, there's finally a new song available for our ears. It is called "Your Hands (Together)". The press release names War Pigs by Black Sabbath, Waterloo by ABBA, and Christine by Siouxsie and the Banshees as the song's influences. Apparently when you put that in a blender you come up with a bad ass New P's song. Go figure.

Below is "Your Hands (Together)" as well as the songs that inspired it.

Abba - Waterloo

Black Sabbath - War Pigs

Siouxse and the Banshees - Christine

Coffee n' Cigarettes with Mutt - Episode 1

Well, I've decided that every day I'm gonna start catching up with Mutt before he goes to work and upload the conversations here on my blog. These are completely natural, unedited raw conversations about things big and small, important and inconsequential, near and far, complex and simple.

Airport Shits

Don't Clean Up Shit at the Airport

Listen, I was browsing through the ads on Craig's List and what did I see? A full time position for a janitor at the Pittsburgh Airport. I'm not saying there's any indignity in being a janitor. I did that for awhile (at this really smaht college). What I can say is that NO ONE likes to clean up other people's scat. Seriously.

I think Mark Borchardt says it best.

With that being said, I'm thinking that the Airport is probably the most dangerous place to be cleaning up people's shit. Think about it- You've got people flying all over the country, all over the world eating food and breathing in toxic. Who knows what all of these humans are picking up on their travels? Then all of these germs and viruses mingle at the airport. It's like a party hardcore hub for disease. There's a bunch of freaky stuff being concocted- stuff you are not comfortable with. At least you won't be if you make contact with it.

And it all goes right into the fucking toilets at the airport! There's probably money in a reality show on Discovery kinda like Deadliest Catch. Only it's more like Deadliest Shit. How on a routine sanitation case, one janitor contracted a strange, new strain of malaria when a Russian needed to drop some excrement on his way from South America to Iceland.

If you're trying to do that, all I'm saying is you better have a great immune system. And possibly a romantic heart because you see that shit and you have a story. Maybe even a moving one. Before it was passed through someone's body, what was it? All things come from the sun, as we know, but what about the life of the animals? Where were they raised and butchered? Most likely in a place you'll never get to step foot in. Stepping foot it in at the airport is probably enough for me, though. Then there's the fields where the plants grew. And the chef who prepared this course- what's his life like in Portugal, down old South America way? And what about the dude with the balls to order that gross entree an hour before takeoff? Maybe this was his first shit after a terrible break-up. He's heading back home to re-calibrate his life. He finally got rid of his baggage. And now you have to clean it.

Coming Tonight

A new addition to my blog, a video segment called "Coffee and Cigarettes with Mutt".
I'm excited about it. We'll be discussing a wide variety of things from the Afghanistan War to the Fruity Pebbles conspiracy. Then I'll have a blog with links, pics, etc to compliment it.

See you tonight!

Electronic Discharge

I know everyone's been waiting for a full release. And I think I'm just about ready. So welcome to Electronic Discharge, a Doggy blog. I'm not sure what I'll see fit to verbalize here- but I guess that's the exciting part.
